Google’s Android-based Open Automotive Alliance to deliver its first product

Google OAA

Earlier this year Google had formed Open Automotive Alliance (OAA) alliance between Google, Audi, GM, Honda, Hyundai and Nvidia. Google’s system, which was known internally as Google Auto Link during development, will be the first product to emerge from the Open Automotive Alliance.

Statement earlier this year about OAA and its venture to being Android OS into your cars; “In this multi-screen world, switching between our different devices should be easy and seamless,” writes Android director of engineering Patrick Brady, arguing that your apps and personal information should show up not just on your devices but in your car as well. The in-car service would presumably sync your favorite Android apps and music right into your dashboard and also offer eyes-free voice controls for Google services like Maps and Gmail.

Google plans to reveal the interface and offer demonstrations to developers at the Google I/O conference, scheduled for June 25-26 in San Francisco.
